A Wreath for Grandma

Every Sunday my family goes to my Grandparents for coffee. We talk about our week, read the paper, cut coupons, drink coffee and of course eat. My Grandma was looking through the ad for a local drug store and saw that that were having a sale on some of their fall things. She said that was a good price and was going to get one. I said FREE is better and that I would make her one that was better then any drug store wreath. And so I did and here it is...

She Loved it and hung it right up.

After School Crafting.

I have started doing crafts once a week with three 5 years old. Two of these are mine the other is Laiken's good friend that I get on and off bus. The girls had decided last week that they would like to do a mermaid craft, and I said ok but thinking now what. So I put the question out to The Glitter Sisters about possible ideas and Violette gave me permission to use one of her beautiful drawings. The Girls thought it was great they colored the mermaid with marker first then painted glitter all over. They came out beautiful and the girls were very happy.

As you can guess Patrick a mermaid, he wanted a fireman. So I printed him one out and he colored for about 5 minutes and got bored (very typical Patrick and crafts). So I finished coloring and he came back to glitter.

Next weeks After School Crafting theme is Autumn Fairies and the Leaf Monster.

My Weekend

We spent Saturday getting Patrick ready to start Hockey. He is very excited.

I also finished my tomato canning. 1 1/2 bushels. I am so glad that is done, last year because of alot of rain I could not get any tomatoes and we really missed them. I canned sauce and also tomatoes, onions, green peppers and garlic (great for chili)

I will be posting some craftier posts this week. I have some projects in the works.

Back on schedule??

Ok so the kids have been doing great and I think I am getting back on schedule. I have so many plans for my day and some do not seem to pan out. Oh well I'll get there. I wanted to share a picture of Laiken and Patrick on their first day as kindergarten.

Remember the picture of my hand? Well this is what I was working on at the time of the picture. I made this sign for my Mom for her Birthday. The picture of the little girl is my most favorite picture and it is of my Mom when she was about 2 looking out her Grandmother's farm house door. I use this picture when ever I have the chance.

I am now finishing up a project for a Swap I am involved in through http://www.violettesfolkart.com/blog.html . I am very excited and nervous. This is my first swap and I hope my art stands up against these very talented artists. I will be posting a picture of the project after I have mailed it out.

I will be a better blogger now that I have a schedule. ( I hope).

Have a great Day and Happy Creating.

Busy getting the kids ready for their first day of Kindergarten. I will have more time to Blog tomorrow. Hope everyone had a great Labor Day week end. Took a quiz on Blogthing.

Here what I found out.

You Are a Blue Crayon

Your world is colored in calm, understated, deep colors.
You are a loyal person, and the truest friend anyone could hope to find.
On the inside, you tend to be emotional and even a bit moody.
However, you know that people depend on you. So you put on a strong front.

Your color wheel opposite is orange. Orange people may be opinionated, but you feel they lack the depth to truly understand what they're saying.

Canning and the Messy Painter

So I spent 2 Days canning Peaches (1/2 a bushel at a time). I got 21 quarts and 6 pints put up and so glad that is done. Next it is on to tomatoes but that will have to wait till after camping. I am really looking forward to camping, I can't wait to have my morning coffee in the outdoors with my best friend and no schedule for the day.

We took the kids to meet their kindergarten teachers this morning. They were so excited, I hope they will be that excited on the first day.

Now for the crafting part of the blog. So does anyone elses hands look like this when they paint. I am working in something for my Mom that I will post next week just in case she looks at the blog. I was painting some small letters and before I knew it this is what my hand looked like.

I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend.

Afternoon Crafting

Before I get to the 1st day of school post (most likely tomorrow) I have one more post from the summer.

A few weeks ago one of my girlfriends and her daughters 10 and 6 year old twins came over for an afternoon of crafting. We made S'more people and when that was done they played with clay and anything else they could find in the workshop.

We had alot of fun.

I can now start posting about things in the present.
